The Cobweb: A Novel Paperback – by Neal Stephenson (Author)/5(67). The The cobweb book manages to mock politics, politicians, bureaucrats and bureaucray and I found that aspect of the novel highly refreshing.

The only scene I found unrealistic or unbelievable in the entire novel was the shootout in downtown D.C. in which one of the characters survives a pistol battle only to ask, "What was that all about?"/5(67). Filled with humor and biting irony, "Cobweb" is the best book on the US government that I've read.

It's also the best book on the Midwest, and the fact that it manages to be both at the same time is further proof (as if this were necessary) that Neal Stephenson is a treasure/5.

One element of this book that worked well was its portrayal of the impact on people remaining at home while their loved ones in the military go off to war.

This was made all the more poignant in Cobweb as it involved a reservist who is called up to serve. This book is not a regular Stephenson novel/5(9). The Cobweb book. Read 2 reviews from the world's largest community for readers/5.

It is essentially a revisionist tale of the Gulf War/5(5). COBWEB BRIDE (Cobweb Bride Trilogy, Book One) is a history-flavored fantasy novel with romantic elements of the Persephone myth, about Death's ultimatum to the world.

What if you killed someone and then fell in love with them. About The Cobweb. From his triumphant debut with Snow Crash to the stunning success of his latest novel, Quicksilver, Neal Stephenson has quickly become the voice of a generation.

In this now-classic political thriller, he and fellow author J. Frederick George tell a savagely witty, chillingly topical tale set in the tense moments of the Gulf War.

Minnelli managed to assemble an all star cast for such a strange concept. On paper it would seem like the plot of a screwball comedy but the movie is 71%. My initial Neal Stephenson book was Cryptonomicon, which remains a favourite.

Too many of his more recent novels have drifted into overly verbose, overly detailed descriptions of events without much plot.
